Breedon Group plc are currently seeking a Mechanical Planner at their cement works plant in Hope, Derbyshire. The mechanical planner plays a key role in the maintenance & reliability team, facilitating the planning and scheduling of day-to-day mechanical activities as well as major repairs, in line with the plant, proactive maintenance strategy. The planner must have a sound understanding of critical spare parts analysis, working closely with the stores team to ensure that the maintenance team have sufficient spare parts available as required. You will hold regular meetings with the wider maintenance team to define maintenance priorities for short, mid and long term activities.

The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • A commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Ensuring that safe work practices are being followed.
  • Promoting safety with all other employees and outside contractors.
  • Planning and scheduling of all preventative maintenance routines in CMMS.
  • Major Repair Planning.
  • All spares parts availability and criticality.
  • Creating and managing job plans and bill of materials (BOM) for key asset maintenance tasks.
  • Playing a key role in the reliability team to promote a sound maintenance culture through preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Contributing to planning of CAPEX projects.
  • Assisting the maintenance manager in the development of the maintenance revenue budget.
  • Being actively involved in the management of external contract agreements.

It is essential that you possess the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of industrial safety techniques and practices
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance best practices, techniques and proactive maintenance technology.
  • Strong Maintenance Planning & inspection experience
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment that may include dust, heat, loud noise, etc.
  • Experience of SAP
  • Experience of shutdown planning
  • Continuous Improvement
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Supervisory experience
  • Computer literate
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
