We are working in partnership with Wigan & Leigh College to recruit for a number of positions within the college, both within the academic and support teams.

We are currently looking for a Site Supervisor to join a team of dedicated Estates Staff at the college.

We are looking for an individual who has a customer centred approach with excellent communication skills, who can demonstrate initiative and preferably with experience in a similar role. The role will include site supervision including locking and unlocking premises, porterage, cleaning and general maintenance.

The successful candidate will also be able to work unsociable hours as part of a call out rota. Applicants must be able to work across College sites in Wigan and Leigh and drive College vehicles for work purposes.

Role responsibilities

To undertake building porterage duties and maintenance services
Set up, remove and relocate furniture and equipment and to receive and distribute incoming goods
Carry out site safety and housekeeping inspection checks
Undertake the College postal service and related driving duties
Travel and work at any of the College sites as and when required
To drive College vehicles between sites as part of the role to facilitate post services and the movement of resources
Act as key holder for the premises with responsibility for locking and unlocking sites on a rota basis
Access and monitor the Colleges security systems i.e. CCTV, intruder, fire alarms
Access and operate the College computer based 'Help Desk' system to effectively administer routine and responsive Estates tasks


The person & qualifications
Hold a relevant and up to date first aid certificate or be willing to gain the qualification
IT Literate
Excellent customer service skills
Previous experience within a similar role
Have a practical working knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety at work as it affects estates and maintenance services
Ability to undertake basic maintenance related duties
