Position: Subcontract Buyer

Location: Loughton


Kier Construction London is looking to employ a Subcontract Buyer with subcontract procurement experience in construction.

Responsibilities:
  • Carry out and lead the procurement of subcontract trade packages as part of a project team.
  • Maximise profitability and minimise risk by procuring to Kier's procedures and processes.
  • Understand contract documents and produce scope documents to be issued with enquiries, receive and review tenders and hold necessary negotiations to complete tender line up.
  • Chair scope and review meetings with subcontractors and project operations/commercial team.
  • Identify and resolve deficiencies in project documentation / information such as drawings and specifications.
  • Identify items of financial / contractual implications and respond appropriately.
  • Act as Champion in preferred relationships.
  • Detailed knowledge of Oracle.
  • Support and drive the Kier Group and project procurement strategy.
  • Provide technical advice and support.
  • Ensure regular communications and development of subcontractor relationships.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience of procurement practices and processes on construction projects values £20m - £80m.
  • Good level of education, ideally working towards the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (or equivalent).
  • Computer skills (Microsoft packages, Oracle).
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Able to work to demanding deadlines.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
