The Company

My client is very well established in providing a wide range of forensic investigation services and root cause analysis for the insurance and risk management industries as well as the legal profession. They have offices in the UK and overseas with experienced scientists and engineers undertaking investigations worldwide.

The Role

As a Forensic Environmental Scientist, you will use your skills and knowledge of chemistry and geology to investigate contamination events and determine their origins.

Undertaking forensic investigations and assessments of the following kind;

Post-fire

Post-flood

Leakage of water, oil or chemicals

Land contamination

Asbestos

Mould Spores

You will use both your academic and practical experience to enable you to collect samples on-site, analyse in the laboratory and assess the geology of a particular site and surrounding areas to determine how chemical contaminants/pollutants may have migrated through the environment, and where they came from.

About You

We are looking for someone with a good honours degree in either chemistry, biochemistry or microbiology and a successful postdoctoral research program in a relatable field. As a Chartered Chemist or Environmentalist you will be looking for an opportunity that allows you to be detail-oriented and to produce reports based on your technical findings explaining how you investigated the process, which samples were tested, how they were tested, the reliability of those tests, what the results were and why they're relevant. A broad knowledge of peripheral sciences like chemistry, toxicology, serology and physical science will help you succeed in this role.
