Key Responsibilities

You will contribute to the successful delivery of the programme of work by feasibility studies, scheme identification, designing, developing and overseeing sound design solutions to meet client requirements within budget and timescale, following Kier processes and procedures as well as any client specific requirements. Other duties will be developing and designing solutions in accordance to national design standards, procedures and requirements and any specific parameters. Production of scheme documents including BoQs and reports in accordance with the relevant contract. Compliance with Highways England and Kier Quality processes, procedures and reporting requirements. Using stakeholder management skills contribute to the regular reporting of progress to external and internal clients as well as communicating with internal line managers regarding progress against planned programme. You will liaise with Highways England and the wider community.

As Asset Design Engineer, provide feasibility deliverables (including drawings specifications, certificates, reports and contract documents), and authorising where appropriate. Assist in the preparation of Cost estimates and work with Programme team. Help prepare Early Warnings (EW) and Compensation Events (CE) as required. Liaise with statutory and non-statutory bodies to obtain relevant licences, consents. Provide information to populate the decision register and update this information as the project develops. Give information to populate the risk register and update this information as the project develops. Compiling the briefs and providing information for RSA, EqIAs, Self-Harm Assessments and WCHAR audits, working with the WCHAR auditor as part of the feasibility/asset team.

What do we need from you?
  • Degree/Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent with appropriate experience
  • A member of an appropriate Institution (ICE, CIHT, RGS, CIWEM) and working towards professional qualification e.g. C Eng/I Eng
  • Strong technical skills and experience of highways maintenance (VRS) and feasibility/design preferred
  • Experience in developing VM summary/contract documents in accordance with relevant contracts
  • Good working knowledge of the DMRB and other relevant standards and guidance notes
  • Able to work with or advise client on certain technical issues
  • Good working knowledge of H&S procedures and CDM Regulation
