An exciting opportunity is available for an Assistant Engineer in our Design Team. The overall purpose of the role is to assist in the development of engineering & design solutions for a wide array of ITS projects to be delivered for a number of different clients as guided by the Senior Engineer, against defined governance and assurances frameworks, processes and procedures to proactively highlight issues at an early stage, allowing Technology Design and Engineering to recommend timely mitigations to facilitate designs that are right first time.
What do we need from you to be successful in this role?
- Industry knowledge, experience and understanding essential; specifically relating to Highways Technology Infrastructure, Highways England, Key Stakeholders and associated contracts.
- Possession of multiple practical skill sets across the HE Technology and Infrastructure Projects (3+ years).
- Some experience and a proven track record of successful service delivery, operational, design, and delivery of Highways Technology Infrastructure Projects; with knowledge of operational maintenance, construction and site experience being essential.
- Ability to organise, plan, programme and manage workloads
- Have a basic understanding of overall commercial, financial, and business best practise.
- Effective and confident communication, professional in approach and presentation, with the ability to build relationships and interact effectively with business and client stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of ITS, IoT, Telco, and IP technologies and their applications against the services Kier Services | Highways supplies
- Degree or equivalent qualification within a technology bias engineering discipline e.g. communications, electronic/electrical engineering.
- Relevant experience in highways & traffic technology or similar would be desirable.
- Programme and Project Management qualification (PRINCE2, Primavera P6 Professional etc)
