BIM Manager's from an MEP or Architectural background will enjoy working for a Tier 1 contractor in the delivery of a major life-sciences project in the North East of the UK. Excellent opportunity for an expert BIM professional to lead a project from cradle-to-grave on one of their landmark projects within the UK, working on a technically complex engineering project with fantastic career progression opportunities available.

A well-known name in the UK Construction market, this leading organization is a market leader in the European Data Centre construction industry, delivering multiple projects across the UK and EMEA at the moment for Blue-Chip organizations. People regularly get promoted into Project Management roles with this company from this level, making it an exciting opportunity for anyone willing to take the opportunity with both hands.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Chair BIM coordination meetings along with the Design Manager, this may include such activities as 'live' walkthroughs, clash detection, problem solving, co-ordination or special issues.
  • Compile supply chain assessments for commercial selection purposes.
  • Write and maintain BEP throughout the working life of the project and quality check model and data entries are compliant with set standards.
  • Managing the processes, workflows and procedures for successful information exchange on project work
  • Tracking of all team models and data to programme and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Monitoring the delivery of the Asset and COBie data.
  • Validate model compliance against BEP, RIBA stages and agreed data drops.
  • Model coordination and interrogation, ensure models work together (federate as necessary), maintain master model, ensure information remains interoperable, clash detection, quality checks, data conversion.
  • Connect BIM to site activities and be instrumental in its adoption and execution.
  • Identify, capture, export and report key data from working models.
  • Creating visuals from models for team use or to proactively highlight issues.
  • Manage the process and information transfer to the projects FM platform and team (6D). ie Archibus, Zutec etc.

Skills & Experience

  • Recognised qualification from a Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health background, design or construction
  • Working knowledge and understanding of:
    • BS1192 inc pt 4
    • PAS1192 pt 2, 3 & 5
    • CIC BIM protocol
    • IFC and other commonly used data exchange formats
    • Common Data Environment
    • Autodesk Revit inc worksets, families and template files
    • Autodesk Navisworks Manage inc Timeline
    • Autodesk Autocad CADmep aka Cadduct
    • Autodesk Recap an advantage
  • Other CAD or BIM software experience would also be beneficial but not essential including Asta power project & Synchro
  • From a Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health background, design or construction. Architectural or structural experience would also be an advantage.
  • Proven BIM track record including authoring tools
