The Role - Controls Engineer

  • Lead Software Engineer within the Controls and Instrumentation Team.
  • Salary: £40k to £55k + Annual Bonus and Car allowance
  • Location - Northamptonshire

The Company

My Client, are looking to recruit a Controls and Instrumentation Software Engineer to join their already strong Controls and Instrumentation Team. Employing over 290 people across 121 sites throughout the UK.

Key Tasks:

  • Software development/and or modifications across Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley PLC's
  • Software development/and or modifications across WonderWare System Platform, Intouch, WinCC and Beijer HMI's
  • Project execution/management - schedule and budget
  • Delivery of projects and/or upgrades against a traditional V-model approach
  • Specifying and/or designing of the software/hardware
  • Specifying Instrumentation requirements for new and upgrade projects
  • Servicing, fault finding and repairing of Control & Instrumentation systems including:- (Sensors, Measuring Systems, PLC's, Scada/HMI Systems across Gas Plant Systems, Fire & Gas systems, Control Panels, Protection Systems and associated Plant)

The Right Person

The successful Lead Software Engineer doesn't have to have specific power generation or renewable sector experience, although a working knowledge would be beneficial.

  • You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Software Engineering
  • Have a proven software engineering background in PLC/Scada systems
  • Have experience of working with codes of practice and national and international standards
  • Proven project management experience
  • Experience in PLC & Scada products such as WonderWare, Rockwell Automation and Siemens
  • Experience of communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, TCP/IP and ProfiNet
