An opportunity has arisen for a talented accountant to join the highly regarded group finance team based at Breedon-on-the-Hill, near Derby. This is an excellent position for a candidate looking to make their first move into industry. The role has significant exposure to the Group Finance Director and divisional Finance Directors, and could act as a springboard into more senior finance roles within the group for an ambitious individual.

Whilst knowledge of accounting standards and the ability to communicate the practical impact of these to the business is important to the role, even more critical is the ability to develop strong relationships with the range of finance teams within the group and to bring a positive approach to the continued improvement of finance systems.

The key areas of accountability in this role are:

  • Lead on preparation of the Group Annual Report and Interim Financial Report.
  • Lead on areas of technical accounting impacting the group, including any projects in relation to new financial standards
  • Co-ordination and management of the external audit process
  • Leading on the fair value process for acquisitions, along with support during the integration process.
  • Acting as a partner within the group finance team to one of the groups operational divisions, responsible for reviewing monthly reporting and working with the business to ensure that the group reporting requirements are met to a high standard
  • Helping manage the key lender relationships with banks and private placement investors,
  • Ownership of cash flow forecasting process, group cash position and online banking platforms
  • Lead subsidiary accounts process
  • Use and development of IBM Cognos financial consolidation and reporting tool

It is essential that you are a qualified accountant (ACA), with excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the business and work well with others in a team environment. You will possess a positive, "can do" attitude with a desire to learn and develop in the role, and have the ability to deliver work to deadlines. You will also have strong IT and technical accounting skills. It would be beneficial if you have a Big 4 background and listed company experience.
