Catfoss Recruitment Ltd are currently in partnership with a globally respected R&D company that is looking to recruit a Modelling and Simulation Engineer to their expanding team on a permanent basis.
MODELLING AND SIMULATION ENGINEER
Our client has a new opportunity for a Modelling and Simulation Engineer to be a key contributor to the formulation, development, implementation, deployment and validation of mathematical models of real-world engineering systems.
You will play an integral part in the development of world leading capabilities that emerge from the challenges posed by our customers at the cutting edge of R&D.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of the modelling and simulation of engineering systems. We are looking for someone with strong analytical
and problem-solving skills who has a broad knowledge of electronics, instrumentation, mechanical engineering or aerodynamics, with expertise in at least one of those disciplines.
Working hours: full time, 38 hours per week
Modelling and Simulation Engineer - Some of the things you will get the chance to do:
* Work alongside a team of systems engineers to develop an in-depth understanding of key facilities, their operation and maintenance.
* Work from technical drawings, reports and documentation to develop mathematical and other simulation models.
* Define requirements for instrumentation in support of simulation verification and validation.
* Develop requirements for system enhancements and new system development.
* Produce system and software documentation including requirements, design and implementation documents, test plans and user manuals.
* Carry out test plans to commission new capabilities and regression test upgraded systems.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting to maximise availability of systems.
* Work within company frameworks for project management, quality assurance and health and safety.
Modelling and Simulation Engineer - What we would like to see:
* Graduate plus 3 years of relevant experience
* Honours degree in STEM subject -Mechatronic Engineering ideally or a related discipline such as Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Physics
* Expertise in the use of modelling and simulation tools, such as Matlab, Simulink, Dymola, Numpy or Scipy.
* Ideally have experience of using multi-physics languages such as Mathworks Simscape or Modelica
* The ability to assess the validity of mathematical models against real world data.
* Experience of software development tools and software engineering standards including the use of version control and bug-tracking tools.
* Have broad knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and practices with a view to developing these as part of a company capability.
* A methodical approach to troubleshooting and debugging, with a passion for problem solving and investigation.
* Good time-management skills to ensure that deadlines are met or exceeded to maximise operational availability.
