Supervisor Location: Oswestry Application Closing Date: 13th March 2020 Kier Highways are looking to recruit a Supervisor to join the Shropshire Council highways maintenance contract.
Working together with the Area Manager, is responsible for the day-to-day management of gangs and sub-contractors. - Involved in the programming of works and the effective utilisation of resources to meet those programmes.- Implementation and monitoring of health, safety, quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
General site/depot supervision, including completion of records as required, including the day-to-day organising of labour.
Supervision an organising the site/depot and managing all safety and operational housekeeping within the site/depot boundaries
Organising labour, plant and calling off materials for the work
Corresponding with Client/Consultant/The Public and other colleagues to seek resolution of any issues.
Ensure utilisation and productivity levels are maintained and exceeded.
Ensure familiarity &effective use of the Confirm System.
Ensure works packs are produced and verified prior to works commencing.
Responsible for briefing out of works packs
Ensure returned information is accurately recorded in Confirm
Manage performance improvement on the contract via Kier processes.
Proactively participate in any required review meetings.
Maximise utilisation of labour, plant & resources.
Assist with scope as required
Ensure that cost is controlled and that income is maximised.
Be proactive in recording Non-conformances. Take action as required to reduce NCR's.
Recognise and contribute to the processes that form the IMS
All Health and Safety issues on site, completion of paperwork for records.
Undertake site inspections as required
To ensure all work comply with relevant environmental legislation and that recycling takes place whenever possible.
Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with Kier SHEMS
Responsible for depot PMR`s
Foster good employee relations, ensuring that team members are properly trained and developed to make their best contribution.
Ensure effective people management practices are carried out across the area in line with Company procedure (team brief, tool box talks, appraisals, disciplinary, grievance, managing performance etc).
Participate in Emergency and Winter Standby
Key Skills and Qualifications:
To have a certificate in Site Safety Management (attended 5 day course - SSSTS)
Experience in construction and Highways environment
Experience in Highways Maintenance at a supervisory level
Commercial awareness
Must be able to drive
Must be computer literate and have good written and numerical skills
NRSWA Supervisor card
Desirable:
Knowledge of Fleet Management
Knowledge of O Licence compliance
LGV licence and City and Guilds 6159
