Are you a skilled Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge in a dynamic and fast-paced environment?
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to support our client on a variety of construction and refurbishment projects. You'll take full commercial responsibility from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring cost control, profitability, and successful financial delivery of each project.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading organisation on a portfolio of projects across sectors such as retrofit, voids, and general fabric upgrades.
The Role: Quantity Surveyor
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be managing and controlling all commercial aspects of construction or refurbishment contracts - including cost planning, procurement, valuations, CVRs, subcontractor payments, and final accounts. The role requires attention to detail, strong commercial acumen, and excellent time management to meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measurement, pricing, and tender evaluation
- Full project ownership from inception to final account
- Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers
- Identify opportunities to maximise value and improve project margins
- Produce and monitor cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
- Prepare and submit accurate applications for payment
- Forecasting and financial reporting to senior stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards
- Manage subcontractor accounts, from appointment to final payment
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and the client to deliver successful outcomes
Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a QS role within construction, refurbishment, or retrofit projects
- Strong understanding of JCT contracts, Schedules of Rates, and Bills of Quantities
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement and cost management
- Ability to produce accurate CVRs and manage project costs end-to-end
- Experience working with both direct labour and subcontracted workforces
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communicator with ability to liaise at all levels
Desirable:
- Experience working on retrofit or public sector frameworks
- Familiarity with NEC contracts
- Knowledge of voids, social housing, or fabric upgrade projects
