  • The Qualifications We Seek

  • 3-5 years of experience in the DSP (open to candidates with 5+ years)
  • Previous experience in a customer service or receptionist role, preferably in healthcare or optical settings
  • Strong verbal communication skills, professional phone manner, and patient-facing confidence
  • Must demonstrate genuine, conversational, and confident communication style in patient interactions
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage high call volume efficiently
  • Comfortable using online scheduling systems and navigating electronic records
  • Tech-savvy, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Willingness to work 100% onsite to ensure consistent patient interaction and team collaboration
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an optometry, ophthalmology, or medical office environment
  • Familiarity with optical terminology and appointment types (e.g., eye exams, contact lens fittings)
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus, but not required
  • Your Daily Tasks

  • Answer incoming patient calls in a courteous and professional manner
  • Schedule patient appointments using our online scheduling system (primary responsibility)
  • Assist patients in finalizing or updating personal details in their records
  • Route calls to the appropriate departments (e.g., billing, optical, clinical staff) as needed
  • Respond to questions related to the status of eyewear (glasses/contacts) and advise patients if they need to come in
  • Address basic billing inquiries and escalate complex issues to the appropriate team
  • Maintain accurate call logs and patient information in the system
  • Provide a high level of customer service to ensure patient satisfaction and support office efficiency
  • Additional Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Process contact lens orders placed through MARLO
  • Review and schedule appointments submitted through 4PatientCare
  • Monitor the schedule to ensure appointments are properly booked
  • Filter incoming faxes and route them to the appropriate department or staff member
