The Qualifications We Seek

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Skilled in the use of standard office equipment including telephones, calculators, copiers, fax, computers, and software (MS Excel, Word, Practice Management software)
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism when exposed to stressful situations
  • Ability to engender trust from doctors, co-workers, and patients
  • Ability to work cooperatively with management, staff, and patients
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks in a timely and independent manner
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate and express thoughts and ideas competently
  • Ability to quickly grasp relevant concepts regarding duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to problem solve issues when they arise
  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physical/Environmental Requirements: Sedentary position; may be required to sit for long periods. Must have close vision, depth perception, hearing to communicate effectively, and finger dexterity for computer use.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Study frequently used insurance plans to understand nuances and communicate coverage effectively
  • Call insurance companies and/or research online to verify patient's insurance status
  • Document basic insurance information on patient charts for quick reference
  • Determine insurance eligibility, limitations, and payment estimates for financial arrangements
  • Process and submit insurance claims
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding claims
  • Send requested documentation to insurance companies (e.g., x-rays, charting, narratives)
  • Correspond with insurance companies to resolve payment delays or denied treatments
  • Answer and manage phone calls, addressing patient inquiries, scheduling, and rescheduling appointments
