We are seeking an experienced Agent with a proven background in rail infrastructure and drainage works to join our expanding civil engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and delivery of complex multi-disciplinary rail projects, with a particular focus on drainage, earthworks, and associated civil engineering elements.
Role Overview
The Agent will lead the site delivery team, ensuring all works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required technical standards. You will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and supervising on-site activities while maintaining close liaison with clients, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day site operations across rail and drainage projects, ensuring compliance with Network Rail and company standards.
Take ownership of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance on site, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Oversee the preparation and review of work package plans, task briefings, risk assessments, and method statements.
Lead and motivate site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to achieve project targets.
Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, identifying critical activities and potential risks.
Ensure all drainage works are delivered to the correct technical specifications, including installation of track drainage, catchpits, outfalls, and associated civil structures.
Liaise with clients, project managers, and design teams to resolve technical issues and coordinate access, possessions, and isolations.
Manage budgets, procurement, and cost control to ensure financial targets are achieved.
Prepare and present progress reports, performance metrics, and project documentation.
Support the delivery of quality assurance processes, ensuring works are fully compliant and signed off in accordance with inspection and test plans.
Required Skills and Experience
Significant experience in a similar Agent or Sub Agent role within the rail sector.
Strong technical understanding of rail drainage systems, civil engineering, and trackside construction methodologies.
Demonstrable experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams on live operational rail sites.
Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of Network Rail standards, procedures, and assurance processes.
Competent in managing health and safety in a rail environment, with the ability to lead by example.
Commercial awareness and the ability to monitor and control project costs.
Qualifications
Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) qualification.
Full UK driving licence.
