Job Title: SHEQ Manager - Construction & Civils Location: Barnet Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 (DOE)
Company Overview:
As part of our client's continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Manager to lead their compliance and improvement initiatives across all operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and implement SHEQ strategy within a progressive and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities of the SHEQ Manager:
Develop and implement a new Integrated Management System (IMS) in line with ISO and legal requirements
Act as the primary contact for external accreditations (ISO, SafeContractor, SMAS, CHAS, Constructionline, etc.)
Lead and manage incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring effective corrective actions
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance
Prepare clear and concise management reports on SHEQ performance and compliance status
Oversee internal and supplier audits, ensuring consistency and improvement across operations
Support tender submissions with accurate SHEQ input and compliance documentation
Design and deliver SHEQ training, inductions, and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors
Work closely with project teams to prepare RAMS and ensure CDM compliance
Lead initiatives to improve health and safety
Advise senior management on legislative updates and best practice in SHEQ management
Define, shape, and implement the company's SHEQ strategy and vision
Maintain the company's ISO accreditations and manage external audit processes
Requirements:
NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (Diploma desirable)
Proven experience implementing and auditing ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 systems
In-depth knowledge of CDM regulations and health & safety legislation
ISO Auditor qualification preferred
Professional memberships desirable (IOSH, IIRSM, APS, IEMA, etc.)
CSCS card and First Aid at Work certification
Proven experience as a SHEQ Manager (or similar role) within construction or civils.
Proficient in digital SHEQ systems and reporting tools
Full UK Driving Licence
