Grounds Maintenance Supervisor - Social Housing
Location: Essex Salary: Up to £41,000 per annum Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
We're currently partnering with a leading social housing provider to recruit an experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the delivery of high-quality horticultural and environmental maintenance services across residential estates throughout Essex.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on leader who takes pride in maintaining outdoor spaces to the highest standards, ensuring safe, attractive, and sustainable environments for residents and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate a team of grounds maintenance operatives, ensuring all works are completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor standards of work, health & safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Organise daily and weekly work schedules, allocate resources effectively, and manage operational priorities.
Support recruitment, training, and performance management of staff, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork.
Liaise with housing officers, residents, and contractors to ensure a responsive and customer-focused service.
Monitor stock, equipment, and vehicle maintenance in line with company policies.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to enhance efficiency and environmental sustainability across operations.
About You
Proven experience supervising or leading a grounds maintenance or landscaping team, ideally within the social housing or public sector environment.
Sound horticultural knowledge and strong understanding of grounds maintenance best practice.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
Working knowledge of health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and COSHH.
Full UK driving licence (essential).
Relevant horticultural qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3, PA1/PA6) desirable but not essential.
