Role: Surveying Technician Location: Bristol

Kier Utilities is looking to recruit a Surveying Technician who will report to the Design/Programme Manager. The successful post-holder will assist the renovations design team in carrying out up-front site surveys, to include mains & service tracing as well as general site wide identification of features and hazards. You will also carry out post completion GPS surveys for renovations & developer services schemes in line with contractual design and as-built processes, as well as production of construction setting out coordinate plans where works are through private land (to reflect agreed private land entry drawings). Your key responsibilities will consist of:
  • To carry out pressure testing of new main installations to certified standards on both renovations and developer services projects.
  • To generally assist and support the Construction & Design teams to provide a quality, timely and efficient service to the client, in line with the client's policies and procedures.
  • On an 'as and when' basis, carry out the Network Technician role to support project requirements and complete a 1 in 4 weekly standby
  • Working closely with the client's staff and customers, managing their expectations and keeping them and line managers fully informed.
  • Carry out mains isolation, risk assessments, as-laid plans, flushing, water sampling, SRC audits, compaction testing, pressure testing and site inspections, as and when required.
  • Investigate and monitor defects and service strikes.
  • Ensure all works are NRSWA compliant.
  • Co-ordinate mains commissioning process from point of successful pressure test result.
  • Maintain accurate site records.
  • Carry out risk assessments when required and put in place any control measures you have identified.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Experience of working on water network contracts with an excellent understanding of work methods.
  • IT skills (this role will require the individual to operate a mobile working system)
  • Managing site personnel as and when required.
  • Competent operational and software knowledge of Leica smart rover GPS equipment.
  • Level of accurate information to aid design.
  • Level of accurate information regarding GPS co-ordinates for as built records.
  • Able to work under pressure with a logical approach
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities whilst under pressure
