We are delighted to have been asked to recruit for our client, an established multi-disciplinary main contractor who is looking for a competent and assured Senior Project Manager to boost their existing project team.
You will be taking overall responsibility for a project or series of projects, whilst ensuring that all relevant Company Group & Sector Specific Procedures and Policies are met, in accordance with the Integrated Business Management System.
Working with the on-site delivery teams, you will be managing the subcontracting and engineering teams and provide mentoring for both direct and contract staff so you will need to be confident in imparting your knowledge and technical abilities.
As a key position within the company, your duties will include:
- Act, Communicate and be seen as a strong leader on Safety and the Company's safety programme, setting and supporting the achievement of high safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Act as a key contact and establish good working relationships with the client and key suppliers for project(s), taking a lead where appropriate in communications from contract award through to timely defects closeout. Deliver the required cash profit and both clients and suppliers are very keen to work with the client again.
- Act as a strong local leader for staff, ensuring roles and accountability's are clear, and that staff are managed, supported, trained and regularly appraised. Develop a strong team loyalty through good leadership and positive relationships, but will also manage poor performance firmly and fairly under the company's Just Culture framework.
- Deliver profitability, without significant WIP, at the levels expected of your project(s) or required to support the company's Business Plan
- Take a strong lead in the ownership of resource programme and cost controls on your projects, managing and supporting the site teams as required. This includes production of monthly CVR and weekly CVR for directly delivered works.
- Lead and support the commercial teams in securing maximum sustainable value from contracts, and in settling subcontracts at a fair level reflective of the subcontractor's price and performance.
- Where applicable take a lead in tackling key commercial, progress or contractual issues with either the Client or Suppliers.
- Prepare a Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Plan at the start of the contract and ensure that the project team operates in accordance with it.
- Ensure Behavioural Safety Action plan produced including workforce / supervisor safety forums etc
- Champion Life Saving Rules
- Ensure that all staff and operatives are competent for the tasks and responsibilities given to them.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the client in respect of the CDM Regulations.
- Ensure that all project operations are planned and executed in accordance with the requirements of the Business Manual.
- Ensure all new employees, including sub-contract employees, are instructed on Buckingham Group Ltd Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements, including project specific requirements.
- Assists tender team in construction methodology, producing high quality bids and writing documentation where required. Attending Post tender Interviews.
- Support Rail specific audits - RIQS etc as required.
- Ensure H&S Files and O&M produced within expected timescales
This role will allow you to demonstrate and put to good use your managerial and engineering skills. Your experience in Project Management will be relied on heavily in order to deliver the projects on time, to budget and safely. If you believe you are of the right calibre for this role, you will also need to demonstrate:
- Have previously worked as a Project Manager
- Previous experience working on rail and civils projects with a main contractor
- Self-motivated and ability to deliver works on time and to budget
- Proven experience in working on several projects at any one time
- Relevant CSCS
