Title: Estimator
Location: Midlands Based - UK wide Projects
Salary: Up to £30,000 plus benefits

An outstanding opportunity to join a company that is fully committed in developing its people. This leading structural frame contractor is looking to secure the professional services of an Estimator. As a specialist sub-contractor they offer a full turnkey solution to clients whilst also providing a variety of sustainable material options that include timber, steel, glulam, CLT and SiPs. As such this Estimator will ideally come from a Structural Steel / Timber frame background.

This Investor in People Company are producing a turnover that is outstripping pre-recession turnover levels. This structural contractor is also part of a much larger group that is guaranteeing short, medium and long term security.

Personal Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working within an estimator role (Structural Steelwork preferable)
  • Qualifications to an HNC / HND level however not essential
  • Good understanding and ability for operating the Microsoft office software
  • Ability to work within allocated time scales to meet the requirements of clients
  • Good punctuality, pro-active approach, communication and presentation skills
  • Works well within a team to achieve targets set by the Bid Manager


Job Specific Requirements:

  • Understanding of the client's enquiry documentation / bill of quantities to fully ascertain the requirements of the tender to ensure the bid submissions are compliant
  • Capable of reading and understanding the structural engineers' and architects drawings, design reports & specifications
  • Hav a good understanding of structural steelwork materials & the ability to produce accurate measures / take offs
  • Engage with the supply chain and issue accurate enquiries and obtain compliant / competitive sub-contract quotations for elements of the tender works
  • Maintain a good understanding of current market rates
  • Ability to produce accurate and detailed quotation documents
  • Operate an estimating software package to update the project bid submission information & maintain communication with the client up to the secured or lost status of each project
  • Attend pre and post tender meetings with clients
  • Complete hand over documentation to the contracts department as necessary
