Protocol are working with a FE college in Essex to recruit an experienced manager to work within their Engineering & Construction department.
Reporting to the Head & Deputy Head of Department you will take specific responsibility for student related matters and line manage Progress Coaches within the department.
Key duties include:
- To develop and monitor the implementation of the tutorial programme within the department.
- To ensure that curriculum staff are clearly monitoring and tracking student progress and achievement.
- To liaise closely with Student Services and the Safeguarding team to ensure a proactive pastoral system is in place.
- To work with teaching staff to identify high needs students in the department and work with the Learning Support Team to maintain appropriate support for students.
- To proactively promote and embed the behaviour policy within the department.
- To actively liaise with Student Services department to pro-actively support "at risk" and vulnerable students in partnership with support staff from other areas.
- Inform curriculum development in the department.
- Provide a high quality learning experience for all students and work proactively to improve teaching and learning across your curriculum area, and consistently promote and achieve excellent classroom practice.
- Teach an appropriate range of student groups ensuring model high quality classroom practice in personal teaching time.
- Effectively manage the performance of direct reports recognising high performance and addressing poor performance quickly and effectively.
- Ensuring appropriate staff skills and knowledge are developed and maintained to enable departmental staff to deliver high quality tutorial and student support.
- Carry out any other such duties as may reasonably be required by the Principal and chief Executive or another Senior Leadership Team member.
The desired candidate will have a specialism within the field of engineering or construction and have a teaching qualification as teaching is part of the role.
