A tier one contractor on Hinkley Point C requires a General Operative to work on contract basis on the main HPC site. The prestigious project is ramping up and needs your help.
The role is long term and Somerset could become your home for the foreseeable future. The role requires you to undertake general infrastructure maintenance duties, a variety of civils activities and an element of inspection duties. You would also be need to make availability out of your hourly activities to undertake winter and emergency maintenance, on a stand by rota basis throughout the year.
In a bit more detail you'll:
- Promote health and safety culture and be responsible for undertaking works in a safe and compliant manner
- Understand risk assessments and method statements and the need for compliance
- Be responsible for undertaking programmed maintenance works as directed by the Supervisor / Site manager
- Assist in the construction of improvements and maintenance of the network asset
- Contribute to a standby rota and undertake emergency call out as directed
- Flexible and committed to business needs.
- The erecting and removal of appropriate signs, barriers, warning lamps etc. in accordance with the Code of Practice
- Driving of vehicles requiring specialist LGV Class C driving skills or prepared to undertake appropriate training.
- Work on street furniture, equipment and similar fixtures(e.g. Erection, maintenance, fixing and/or dismantling)
- Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge
- Receptive to undergo further training
- Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operative
- Follow health and safety policy and actively supporting the Injury Free Environment (IFE) culture that is an integral part of the working environment here.

- New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Operative Accreditation (preferred)
- HGV / LGV
- CPC road sweeper (desirable)
- TBNNB (desirable)
- CPCS A09 - Forward tipping dumper wheeled(desirable)
- CPCS A59a / A59b - Tracked/wheeled 360 excavator, above 10 tonnes (desirable)
