Reporting to: Network Control Centre (NCC) Manager
Location: NCC South Mimms
Kier Strategic Highways is looking to recruit a NCC Operator to support the Areas 6&8 highways maintenance contract.
Job Purpose:
- Working in the Network Control Centre based at South Mimms on a 12 hour shift based rotation. Providing a 24/7 single point of contact with regards to Area 6 and 8 incident management, operations, scheduled road space bookings and Highways England enquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as first point of contact for Kier in relation to incidents on the Area 6 and 8 network and operations, ensuring that the appropriate course of action is taken for each issue reported.
- Deploy and manage resources on the Area 6 and 8 network including Asset Incident Watchman and secondary resources.
- Liaise directly with the Emergency Services and deployed resources, ensuring any additional support is correctly identified and provided.
- Maintain and manage the information flow and ensure regular contact with all stakeholders during incidents.
- Produce and maintain accurate records for all incidents that occur in on the Area 6 and 8 network and record all relevant information into the relevant database.
- Record and disseminate all Winter Maintenance decisions during the winter service period.
- Log/record all Area 6 and 8 safety observations and forward reports to the relevant teams.
- Monitor all Airwave radio communications, ensuring a strict radio discipline is maintained.
- Respond to enquiries relating to Area 6 and 8 and ensure that all enquiries and/or complaints are resolved and/or responded to within the required timeframe.
- Record all Traffic Management events on the Highways England Scheduled Roadwork's System (SRW) daily.
- Assist with the preparation of the Traffic Management programmes for the Area 6 and 8 network.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of the various computer systems utilised in the NCC, including Causeway, Customer Enquiry, ECM, SRW, IAM-IS, CCTV, TRAKA and Everbridge.
- Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
- Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively perform within a team, sometimes within high pressure environments
- Computer literate adept with Microsoft programmes and other applications
- Good interpersonal skills
- Flexible working approach (comfortable working both day-time and night-time shifts)
- Professional and clear telephone manner
