Assistant Planner

Location: Sandy, Bedfordshire

Kier Construction Major Projects is looking to recruit an Assistant Planner to support projects undertaken by our office.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Senior Planner to deliver planning in support of securing new works and delivering existing/new projects.
  • Ensure delivery with sustainable margins and within the required programmes to meet all contractual obligations.
  • Develop and agree project design, procurement, construction and commissioning programmes, (DPCC).
  • Check and integrate supply chain programmes into the (DPCC) programme.
  • Work with the design management team to produce full design information release schedules and support the management and monitoring.
  • Assist with agreeing with the project team logistics and sequencing strategies and produce pictorial representations.
  • Drive programme by use of six week look-ahead programme's to closely manage the DPCC programme.
  • Produce build ability strategies to assist the project team to maintain the agreed construction programme if any problems arise.
  • Monitor programmes as required and complete Planners Independent Progress Reports to the required quality and timescales, on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Monitor and manage the programme for the Clients requirements.


Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • An knowledge of and the ability to produce or assist in the production of programmes using major standard software packages, ASTA, Primavera, MS Office, (training will be provided if not used the ASTA software).
  • Strong and confident presentation skills.
  • In-depth analytical thinking and complex reasoning capabilities.
  • Ability to work as a team member but able to influence key decisions.
  • Ability to interpret and convey complex programmes in a format that can be readily understood by other team members and senior business managers.
  • Understands resourcing implications and balances conflicting priorities.
  • Continually strives to improve performance and to innovate.
  • Positive approach to change; involving and persuading others of its benefits.
  • Good communication skills with an ability to adapt approach dependent upon audience
  • Degree in Construction Related Field (Engineering or Construction), or
    an equivalent and proven aptitude exhibited in the course of previous experience.
