Title: Structural CAD Detailer
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Salary: AU$75-100k per annum plus superannuation (pension) £45,000 to £60,000 equiv.


Opportunity to relocate to Australia with this young company with a rapidly growing market and an immediate need to attract dynamic and adaptable staff to join their team and help the business grow.

They are constructing a new state of the art production facility to produce cross-laminated timber ( CLT ), a new engineered timber product that can be used to build entire multi-storey buildings.

The company are the only producer of CLT in the Southern Hemisphere and are extremely well-placed to capitalise on this exciting new construction technology.

We seek an experienced, confident CAD Detailer. The drawing team is charged with developing 2D and 3D models, using a software called Cadwork, to develop shop floor drawings for CNC machining. This role would suit a mid-level draftsperson with experience in delivering structural design solutions across a wide range of applications in both the residential and commercial sectors. A passion and physical understanding of timber will be well-regarded for applicants.

This is a full time permanent position based in the Melbourne design office. Successful applicants will potentially be required to travel periodically to our facilities in both Australia and New Zealand, as part of their role.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Ability to interact well within a team environment
  • Experience in client relationship management
  • Confident and effective communication skills - written & verbal
  • High level of proficiency using computer drafting software, in particular Cadwork or hsbCAD
  • Experience in shop detailing, with timber focussed experience being highly regarded
  • Must be enthusiastic and ambitious with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a multi-discipline office environment
  • Must know that the detail matters, and be systematic and disciplined with all documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision (relevant training will be provided)


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Client liaison
  • 2D and 3D modelling of CLT structures including incorporation of all related components
  • Preparation of shop floor drawings and factory control documentation
