Location: Tempsford, Sandy, Bedfordshire
Kier Construction Major Projects are looking to recruit a SHE Manager to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all people in the Alliance and those affected by our activities through safe planning, design and construction.
Responsibilities:
- To review, evaluate and support in the development of the Infrastructure Alliance H&S Management Systems processes and documentation
- To ensure all H&S statistics are collated in a timely manner and submitted to the Head of HSEQ for reporting purposes
- Review accident and incident statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement and ensure appropriate preventative / corrective actions are identified and implemented
- Under the direction of the Head of SHEQ, delivering the IA strategic goals for SHE through the development and application of specific Business SHE programmes aligned to the IA strategy
- Ensure the IA remains compliant with all legislation regarding Health Safety and the Environment.
- In conjunction with the JV Contract Manager and Head of SHEQ ensure that suitably Qualified and Experienced SHE Personnel (SQEP) staff levels are maintained to support the operational requirements.
- Under the direction of the Head of SHEQ, develop, maintain and implement SHE leading and lagging key performance indicators (KPIs) and related improvement programmes.

- Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and investigated in accordance with the SHE policies and procedures
- Ensure all SHE lessons learnt and other High Value Learning Events (HVLEs) are communicated.
- Ensure that all SHE reporting requirements are provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- To provide SHE leadership to SHE investigations as required by TW /IA SHE policies and procedures.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Chartered SHE professional or equivalent (or demonstrable IPD/CPD equivalent)
- Diploma or equivalent in Health and Safety
- Detailed understanding of SHE legislation
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 Standards
- Significant experience in similar or supporting post
- Other supporting business and/or engineering qualifications
- Methodical & able to follow through, even for small matters
- Good oral and written communicator at all corporate levels
- Good training skills and ability for public speaking
- Ability to work as part of and/or lead a team
- Ability to work on own initiative - and deliver key objectives
- Able to work under pressure
- Notices & responds to others needs
- Ability to positively influence others.
