Are you a Senior Senior Controls Software Engineer with excellent knowledge of DCS, PLC and/or SCADA/? Have you had experience of using the Wonderware System Platform across multiple projects?

We have a great career opportunity for a Senior Engineer who has worked within a Process industry such as Pharmaceuticals, Utilities or Waste to join one of the biggest players in renewable energy and landfill gas. This role will be challenging, instrumental and with excellent prospects to develop and progress.

The Company

My client is a leading renewable power generator and the largest generator of landfill gas in the UK. They operate a portfolio of landfill gas plants across the UK. In view of the challenging decarbonisation targets adopted by the UK government by 2020, they have a unique opportunity to play an active role in building out the UK renewable power generation capacity requirements over the coming decade. The Role

The role is a Lead Software Engineer within the Controls and Instrumentation Team. The candidate would be expected to engage in all software, Controls and instrumentation aspects of the equipment portfolio, have a proven experience of delivering projects and the ability to lead multiple projects. You will be expected to either support or lead these from development, commissioning and then maintain the life of the asset. The Key Objectives of the role are:

  • to drive forward multiple projects as Technical lead and using Project Management experience to deliver within time line and budget
  • Demonstrate Software Development and/or modifications across Wonderware System Platform, Intouch, WinCC and Beijer HMIs, Allen Bradley PLC and Siemens S7C
  • Lead on roll-out of multiple "Peaking Site" projects in their entirety - inclusive of managing architecture, gas, electric, fit out, fuel source, contractors, etc - from commissioning, designing, implementing, testing and handing over to BAU
  • Utilise collaborative and communicative approach by liaising with all stakeholders and contractors and being forthcoming and empathetic with assistance to achieve their buy-in and ensure an efficient operation
  • Exhibit a proactive and can-do attitude by pre-empting potential issues along with reviewing opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements

The Person

Ideally, you will;

  • Degree / HND qualified (or equivalent) in Software Engineering.
  • Have excellent experience of Control & Instrumentation: DCS, PLC and/or SCADA/ HND qualified (or equivalent) in Software Engineering.
  • Experience in PLC & SCADA products such as Wonderware, Rockwell Automation and Siemens.
  • Have experience of working with codes of practice and national and international standards.
  • Must have 8+ years experience in a Process Driven Environment: Pharmaceuticals / Power Generation / Utilities / Petrochem
  • Must have previously worked as a Lead Developer/Senior Engineer and in leading Projects
  • Experience of communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, TCP/IP and ProfiNet.
