Assistant Building Services Manager

Location: Plymouth

Kier Western and Wales are looking for an Assistant Building Services Manager to join their team in Plymouth.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure designers risk assessments are completed, updated and issued to the CDM Co-ordinator.
  • Ensure designs are appraised for their ability to be built safely and where possible, incorporate company best practice.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Construction Design and Management designers and constructors requirements.
  • Demonstrate awareness of site health and safety issues and SUSA
  • Consider and investigate Value Engineering opportunities at all stages.
  • Provide technical assistance in tendering, through qualitative responses to submission documents.
  • Manage options, alternatives and design solutions throughout all the stages of design.
  • Ensure that adequate M&E management and co-ordination is applied to all stages of design development including optioneering, value management and review of alternatives.
  • Ensure relevant Company procedures/accounting procedures are adhered to at all times, (where applicable to role).
  • Co-ordinate the design process at Tender and Construction phases.
  • Review and appraise Tender information for Risk and Value Engineering.
  • Ensure that the management of drawing/information issue and distribution systems for designers, and Construction Design Packages with specialist subcontractors is maintained.
  • Produce, create, manage and maintain designer responsibility matrices.
  • Identify and manage design deficiencies, discrepancies at all stages of design development and report to Design,Co-ordinate the design process at Tender and Construction phases.
  • Review and appraise Tender information for Risk and Value Engineering.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • NVQ/HND/HNC/CIBSE or equivalent qualifications
  • A Levels or equivalent
  • GCSE/O-Levels or equivalent
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Ability to organise, plan and manage workloads
  • Be able to work on your own initiative
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Be able to motivate yourself and others
  • Experience of working within a construction environment is essential
  • Commercially aware
