We are working with a supplier of Specialist Products (Design Software and Components) to the Engineered Wood Products Manufacturing Industry (e.g. Roof trusses, floor joist and timber wall panel manufacturers) to find an Operations Manager to come and join their family run business who have over 45 years' experience in the Timber Industry.

The Role

You will be expected to maintain an efficient and cost effective manufacturing operation for nailplates and easi-joist metalwebs at the Company's West Midlands location. They will have an overview of the company goals and make recommendations to improve process efficiency and profitability of the business. The person will be expected to deal with sensitive personal information in a confidential and professional manner.

They will provide technical and sales information to customers requiring machinery, managing installation projects to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Production Engineering and manufacturing method.
  • Plant engineering and maintenance.
  • Production and inventory control.
  • Quality control to ISO 9001.
  • Health & Safety implementation.
  • Employment Law.
  • Product and manufacturing development.
  • Purchasing and supplier negotiations.
  • Factory recruitment.
  • Management of Company facilities.
  • Sales and service of specialist truss manufacturing machinery.
  • General administration duties.


About you

After training the successful applicant will have the opportunity to make independent decisions and be expected to assume increasing responsibilities. All managers have considerable exposure to customers, hence some sales and/or servicing experience would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will have a manufacturing background with experience of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical control systems. They are a small highly technical company with a proven track record over the last 30 years which they have achieved by responding to market conditions. It follows that their ideal candidate will have an adaptable and progressive attitude.
