Our client a growing mechanical services company is looking to recruit a Technical Sales Manager to their expanding team.
Technical Sales Manager - Overview
To take a customer from a Business Development Manager and manage their project from initial consultation through to order placement.
Technical Sales Manager Duties
* Accept handover of customer from the Business Development Manager. Make initial contact with the customer to understand the mechanical services project they have.
* Understand the project from a value, suitability and financial point of view and make a recommendation on the feasibility of the project using appropriate criteria. Work on the assumption that if our values allows us to do the job, we will
* Organise a survey with the customer and visit site to get all the building, technical and customer details needed to design the project.
* Using research, site survey and expertise to detail a potential design for the customer that highlights value and energy efficiency.
* Liaise with both internal and external staff, including designers, costing, estimating, project management and procurement to bring together a fully-costed project that delivers on our core values.
* Deliver a proposal to the customer that is simple to understand yet provides all the requirements highlighted through the project.
* Alongside the Business Development Manager, close the project through meetings, negotiations and objection handling without compromising on cost.
* Create a handover document to our project management and operations team that allows a smooth and financially successful installation.
Technical Sales Manager Required Skills
* Good mechanical services knowledge. Able to create basic designs for air conditioning, heating, ventilation and energy control systems. Be able to work with our head of design to deliver multi projects.
* Exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once to tight deadlines.
* Effective communication and presentation skills. Able to translate complicated mechanical services concepts into understandable and easily digestible proposals.
* Able to close deals quickly and without compromising on price. Able to handle objections and convince our customers that our company values are more important than a discount.
* Excellent project management skills. The ability to work with both external and internal clients to deliver multiple projects at once.
* Basic costings experience. Able to negotiate with suppliers and colleagues and then bring that information together in to a quote.
* A positive and proactive personality. Able to work as the leader of a team of equals. Able to understand deadlines and pressure of others to enable the meeting of own milestones & deadlines.
* Adept use of CRM systems, Office, CAD design experience desirable but not essential.
