Northcot Brick have an opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join their management team, a key role within the business responsible for maintaining and improving our clay brick making machinery. Northcot Brick is an award winning, fast-improving niche manufacturer of clay facing bricks, both machine and handmade, making bespoke bricks for projects of national architectural importance.

This is an opportunity to live and work in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with an engineering company that embraces both new and old values and methods. We hold an ISO 14001 Environmental Management certificate, and monitor health & safety actively. Current equipment ranges from robotics to 100-year old clay preparation mill. An important part of the role will be to integrate with the existing management to plan preventative maintenance in a safe, timely manner.

To succeed in this role you will need to be flexible and comfortable being part of a small management team who are all prepared to take the initiative and "help out". As a relatively small company in the sector (approximately 60 employees), this position is likely to offer wider involvement with the whole business than equivalent roles elsewhere in the industry, including liaison with sales staff, welcoming members of the public, directors, dealing with suppliers, etc.

Our ideal candidate will have heavy machinery experience, ideally in heavy clay combined with some general business and man-management experience. You will have a mechanical or electrical industrial qualifications and experience; with an HNC / HND or higher in mechanical (preferably or alternatively electrical) engineering. Other useful qualifications could include industrial gas certification; plc controllers.

Re-location expenses will be offered if successful. This is a permanent full-time role with prospects. Work entails planning of both maintenance and spares inventory. Hours - normal working week, plus compulsory overtime of around 15 days per year.
