The opportunity:
Kier Construction Western & Wales is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to be based from the Cardiff office. Reporting to the Finance Manager, your role will be instrumental in ensuring invoices are managed and system queries are resolved effectively. Ideally, you'll have a background in construction, and you must have previous working experience of Oracle and Sap. You will be a confident communicator, able to build effective relationships and push back when required.
Responsibilities:
  • Query resolution, dealing with complex invoice and order holds on an end to end basis, ensuring corrective action is in line with current process and policies.
  • Act as a point of reference for training and education queries, run regular refresher and update training and workshops on hold resolution.
  • Obtain Goods Received Notes (GRNs) from sites on a (minimum) weekly basis, chasing returns where necessary
  • Receipt goods in Oracle eBS by entering GRNs against purchase orders in Oracle eBS as requested
  • Liaise with site managers / procurement department / suppliers to resolve queries efficiently
  • Notify deliveries without a purchase order or incomplete purchase order to the procurement department and site team
  • Promote discipline in goods receiving and accurate recording of deliveries by sites
  • Identify common and reoccurring issues and escalate to management

You should have experience in the following:
  • Essential - working knowledge and proficiency in Oracle and/or Sap, Excel (vlookups and pivot tables)
  • Essential - strong Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Desirable - working knowledge of construction and different types of materials
  • Purchase and subcontract ledger, statement reconciliation and good receipting experience
  • Dealing with complex invoices with the knowledge to resolve matching process
  • Accurate and confident in written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a good communicator, able to work efficiently, as a team member
  • Clean driving license
  • Knowledge of construction materials would be advantageous
  • Experience working within a large complex organisation
  • Experience in either an accounting role & understanding of fundamental accounting principles or a Commercial Administrator role
  • Full driving licence & ability to travel to sites
  • Accurate and confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Persistent problem solver
