Position - General Manager

Location - Within 1 hours commute of Cheltenham

The Opportunity: Kier are looking to recruit a General Manager, who will report to the Managing Director. The role will be to ensure the operational teams deliver on time and within budget to long-term framework contracts whilst protecting our clients' reputations through security of supply to their customers. Key Responsibilities
  • To provide senior leadership and management across multiple strategic clients to ensure business plan and QR targets of Margin and Turnover are exceeded
  • To bring strategic level experience and stakeholder relationships to enable both group and divisional Vision 2020 targets to be exceeded
  • To ensure that the strength and depth within business leadership teams becomes a differentiator for the business and an enabler for targets within the business
  • To promote Kier Group's values towards its customers in order to meet or exceed their expectations, and achieve the vision.
  • To implement and comply with Kier Group's SHE policy and procedures, all legal requirements, and best practice within the region
  • Ensure the business delivers/exceeds the budgets/QR forecasts for profit, cash, revenue, overheads for the specific contracts
  • To lead, manage and motivate staff and operatives to ensure their contribution is maximised to the organisation
  • Ensure that our people become our key differentiator and a culture of accountability and ownership is embedded into the business
  • To identify short-term and medium term market trends, and support the development and implementation of the business unit's strategy
  • To develop, support and lead relationships with current and potential stakeholders (inc. clients, partners and supply chain)

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualified to Degree / HND / NVQ Level 4 Waste Management & Relevant ManagementQualification is desirable
  • Have a proven track record of directing an operational team of considerable size and managing the requirement of support functions to support service delivery
  • Financially competent with excellent commercial skills
  • Conversant with relevant legislation and compliance issues
  • Be pro-active and able to prioritise effectively
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Work experience in the Public and Private Sector
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Financially proficient and comfortable with P & L accounts
  • A full driving licence
