Title: Senior Project Surveyor - Timber Frame
Location: Manchester
Salary: Up to £60,000 + Pension, Bonus & Benefits Package

The Senior Quantity Surveyor post carries a high level of responsibility since the primary role is to have financial control of all allocated developments. He/she must be able to provide sound commercial advice and recommendations to the development team, with the aim of maximising profitability whilst minimise risk.

They will assist the development of the team by mentoring more junior members of staff including assistants and apprentices. They will report to the Commercial Manager but will also provide support when required directly to the Commercial Director.

Accountabilities

  • To co-ordinate and manage all financial activities of developments under their control.
  • To be able to build and maintain a close working relationship with other disciplines within and outwith the organisation, in particular the finance, construction and technical teams.
  • Be prepared to take ownership to ensure that customer enquiries are dealt with promptly.
  • To be able to manage and co-ordinate available resources to meet agreed targets.
  • To be aware of current Health & Safety procedures and assist in ensuring they are adhered to at all times.
  • Must possess good negotiation and dispute resolution skills to minimise liability risk.
  • Must have a good understanding of law of contract and must be able to apply that knowledge in practical situations.
  • Must proactively identify & propose savings within the business.


Essential Technical Expertise

  • Financial / Commercial awareness.
  • Effective cost control.
  • Accurate / on time reporting.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • IT skills (Cost systems & Microsoft Office).
