We are working with a fantastic College in Middlesex who are looking for an IT Technician. The post will be for 36 hours a week over 5 days until the end of the academic year. Normal working hours are between 8.30 am and 5.00 pm. Looking to interview immediately this college are offering an hourly rate of £10.50 per hour plus holiday pay.
Role Responsibilities
Provide a polite and professional customer focused second line IT Support service to staff and students. Log, actively respond to and where possible resolve, incoming technical telephone calls, emails, voicemails etc. via the College's helpdesk system. Keep users informed on the progress of helpdesk requests and escalate problems or high priority calls to the IT Support Manager or IT Systems and Infrastructure Manager as appropriate. Install, configure and maintain IT related hardware / software to ensure operational effectiveness to the highest possible standard and in accordance with IT policies.
Support the College's VoIP and mobile telephone systems including troubleshooting and maintenance of basic voice/data cabling faults, patching, testing and tracing. Liaise and work with 3rd party vendors to resolve hardware or software issues. Maintain and support College AV equipment including interactive whiteboards, projectors, digital cameras, DVD players etc. Assist directly in the effective delivery of a helpdesk service and contribute to effective team work and a service oriented culture within the IT Services Team
Actively participate in staff development activities and undertake further training as part of your continuing professional development
Work flexibly in order to satisfy the organisational needs, including enrolment and evening or occasional weekend work.
To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties for any member of staff, students or department of the college and adhere to the College's Data Protection Policy and the Data Protection Act 2018.
To uphold and promote College policies, procedures and controls, including the College's Equality and Diversity policy and promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work.
Carry out other reasonably comparable duties that may be required from time to time.
The person & qualifications
Candidates must have A DBS on the update service or applied for
A relevant industry standard IT qualification, e.g. MSCE, CCNA,Significant Experience of working in a PC / Helpdesk support role with a sound knowledge of common PC applications, and the ability to assist and explain technical processes in a non-technical way.
Excellent knowledge of supporting Microsoft Windows Desktop, Microsoft Office and Apple OSX products.
