Introduction:

Kier work as part of a framework for Western Power Distribution to ensure its customers have power in their homes, businesses, schools and hospitals. We are an essential member of the team mainly working on reactive and planned maintenance.

We employ a large number of teams across the region, whose role it is to either respond to emergencies to dig down in the street or on private property to give our client access to repair their asset, or to lay new mains cables as part of their ongoing planned maintenance programme. Our responsibility begins with planning the works and finishes with us clearing site having put it back to the same or better condition than when we arrived, making sure that customers are happy and informed throughout every stage of the works

The Role:

A WPD Area Agent will have constant contact and liaison with Clients Team Managers to ensure we manage the work instructed to us in a professional, efficient and commercially aware manner. You will continually encourage the Client to increase the value of work issued to us and to co-ordinate and manage contractors/direct labour to ensure all H&S processes are adhered to and work is delivered is to the correct specification and quality.

The main responsibilities of the role will be:
  • Overall H&S responsibility for their Depot and each work site in their Area
  • Liaise with Western Power Distribution Staff on a daily basis manging pre-planned programmed works and daily instant response to faults
  • Understand how the contract works commercially and that invoices submitted to the Client are correct while ensuring any opportunity has been maximised.
  • Co-ordinates the planning and programming of weekly jobs with the Clients Network Teams and WPD Streetworks.
  • Co-ordinates and manages work teams to cover programmed works and daily faults
  • Ordering and Management of Materials required for schemes.
  • Weekly Health & Safety site audits.
  • Delivering Tool Box Talks and Briefings
  • Checking and authorising all weekly timesheets
  • Reviewing and authorising Subcontract Measure Sheets( With support of commercial team)
  • Managing Plant
  • Quality inspections of Sub Contractors work.
  • Checks and records of all LOLER & PUWER inspections of site equipment
  • Co-ordinate with Council and work with TMA enforcement officers with full understanding of TMA & NRSWA & hold the relevant qualification
  • Ensuring schemes are completed on time, signed off by the client and works are closed with Streetworks.
  • Reviewing Transport issues ( With support of TM)

  • Essential Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with a Main Contract Client.
  • Knowledge of electricity network.
  • Knowledge of NRSWA & TMA
  • Ability to take ownership of individual schemes and work unsupervised.
  • Health & Safety ideally hold 5 day site safety qualification
  • IT / Email skills - Particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Full driving licence.
