Introduction: Kier Strategic Highways are looking to recruit a Maintenance Manager to join the Area 9 Highways England contract in Warwick. Breaking with tradition, we will be implementing a proactive, analytical approach, the Maintenance Manager will play an important part in leading this change.
Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems covering strategic and nationally important roads as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewal of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a step change in the delivery of technology maintenance services, bringing them in line with Kier and Highways England's aspirations.
Responsible for delivery of maintenance and fault response within a challenging set of SLAs agreed with Highways England
The maintenance manager will be personally measured against the performance of the service.
The maintenance manager must ensure close collaboration with Kier Traffic Management teams to ensure excellent traffic management provision for maintenance services.
Report directly to Highways England and the project board on contract performance.
Collaborate with key supply chain partners, other areas of Kier and with our client to deliver exceptional service levels to customers. Ensure this collaboration takes place throughout all levels of the team.
Manage the key interface between the technology maintenance contract and the Highways England Control Centre.
Communicate enthusiastically and effectively with Highways England stores to ensure the right equipment is available at the right time to deliver the service.
Lead, manage and develop the maintenance engineering pool, where necessary developing them up to and beyond industry standard skill levels.
Ensure the engineering pool is deployed efficiently to the benefit of the service and to ensure the welfare of the team.
Be responsible for preparing/updating/implementing the maintenance requirements plan, identifying resource requirements, dependencies, constraints and risks.
Adopt a forward-thinking approach by taking an active role in developing and applying innovative techniques and products to the delivery of technology maintenance.
Ensure a robust and thorough process is adopted for accepting schemes completed by others into technology maintenance.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Experience leading operational change. The successful applicant will be a resilient individual not afraid to challenge the way things are done and to provide motivation, support and leadership through the change process.
Experience in leading, motivating, managing and developing a team of site-based engineering staff.
Experience in managing a maintenance service with a demanding set of service level agreements.
Commercial acumen with a focus on maximising profitability whilst meeting or exceeding service requirements.
Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or IOSH Managing Safely qualified.
Knowledge and experience of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
Able to work independently without close supervision.
Desire to develop, promote and deploy innovative technologies and solutions.
Ability to learn and keep up to date with changes in highways technology standards and required statutory legislation.
Computer literate and fully conversant with MS Office suite.
Experience managing a 24/7 maintenance service (desirable)
Degree or equivalent vocational qualification in technology related discipline (desirable)
