Title: Deputy Environmental Manager Salary and Benefits: A competitive salary, 26 days annual leave, Matched pension scheme - up to 7.5%, x2 Share schemes, Numerous retail discounts Location: Basingstoke Business area: Strategic Highways Introduction: Kier Strategic Highways are looking to recruit a Deputy Environmental Manager to join the Area 3 Contract for Highways England. Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods. Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise Highways Agency and Kier Highways colleagues on environmental matters
  • Liaise with non-statutory and statutory environmental bodies, applying for consents, licenses and approvals
  • Undertake site walkovers if necessary
  • Depot, project and site audits
  • Undertake EIA using Kier Highways ISO14001 processes
  • Identify & manage environmental risks
  • Ensure permits, consents, approvals and exemptions are all in place
  • Ensure Legal compliance in environmental terms
  • Ensure environmental matters are addressed throughout the contract
  • Assist with developing strategy
  • Line manage environmental specialists
  • Deliver awareness training and toolbox talks

    • Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of project management
  • Demonstrable experience of water specialist design or consultancy
  • Water-related qualification desirable
  • Membership of relevant professional body desirable
