Introduction:

Are you looking to join a leading utilities company working maintaining and repairing the water network for your local communities?

If so, we have an excellent opportunity for a customer- centric, backfill operative to join our reinstatement team.

You will be responsible for assisting ensuring a reinstatement in accordance with legislation.

Duties will involve carrying out reinstatement works in the highway, on private property and premises, or as instructed by the Reinstatement Manager and Supervisors. The Reinstatement Operative, where necessary will capture all precise measurements and locations as the task is completed and forward to the planning team through the use of electronic devices.

Experience operating a pedestrian roller, a trench rammer and a cut off saw are essential. The Reinstatement Operative must be able to work on their own initiative and be fully aware of NRSWA and relevant legislation. The ideal candidate will be physically capable for undertaking manual works in all weathers, on multiple surface types.

You will need a full driving licence and NRSWA would be required, as well as demonstrable capability of using IT and smart phone technology.

Skills and experience required:
  • UK driving licence
  • HGV Class 1 Licence
  • First Aid
  • Abrasive Wheels
  • Manual Handling
  • Suitable reinstatement experience with hot-lay tar
  • Suitable reinstatement experience with bricks, blocks, slabs and cement
  • Able to operate in a flexible and adaptable manner and work as part of a team
  • Have reasonable written and numerical skills
  • NRSWA Operative
  • Open to attend training programmes to increase individual skills and knowledge
  • Knowledge of proximity rules and compaction
  • Knowledge of road types, backfill and tar splits
  • Competent at identifying material
  • Experience on project work preferred
