Position - Quantity Surveyor

Location - Within 1 hours' commute of Bristol
The opportunity:
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Bristol, working for the Western & Wales Buildings team. With a very strong order book for the coming years, we need someone with your expertise to support the highly successful business. Awarded projects include but are not limited to new build schools, high rise residential, student, healthcare, leisure and commercial valued from £5 to £50m.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the commercial resources of the assigned project to maximise planned gross margin through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts
Provide commercial expertise to contracts, to include the production and submission of valuations, claims, budget monitoring, and contract/workstream performance data
Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management
Support the authorisation and submission of project variations. To authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders
Maximise cash flow through the control, measurement (including quality) and valuation of work, and the invoicing of customers and payment of suppliers
Value work executed by sub-contractors and certify interim and final payments.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Holds the relevant qualifications (Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying desirable)
Experience within a similar role essential
Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
Individual:
Computer literacy; Outlook, Asta Power projects or similar planning software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Gained Safety Awareness courses (CITB 5 day course - SMSTS, CDM, Crane Appointed Person, Scaffold, First Aid, Temporary Works)
Member of a recognised professional body or qualifications e.g. MCIOB, RICS
Be a good communicator and have the ability to work well under pressure, heading site teams
