Our client is looking to recruit a General Manager to their expanding depot & office team.
Ideally you will come from a Plant Hire / Construction Equipment / Utilities Equipment background.
General Manager - Roles & Responsibilities
General Transport Management:
* Efficiently managing a team of drivers and vehicles.
* In charge of the day to day operations of the transport/hire department.
* Responsible for all of the dispatching, routing, and tracking of trucks.
* Ensuring company compliance of all transport policies, legislation and procedures.
* Making sure that all transport fleet vehicles are properly maintained and serviced.
* Organising vehicle checks.
* Site Visits to assess job requirements
* Ordering of Fuel and liaising with stock control for ordering parts
Management of Drivers:
* Managing, monitoring and developing a team of drivers and line managers.
* Being the first point of contact for all drivers.
* Arranging for the induction and training off all new staff.
* Appraising staff performance and also taking disciplinary measures when required.
* Team management and support and arranging accommodation where necessary
HR Tasks:
* Check and Sign off operator timesheets
* Handle annual leave requests with HR
Business Development:
* Involved in strategic development and strategy making.
* Identifying operational issues, potential problems and opportunities.
* Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently.
* Ensuring all site and customer objectives are achieved.
* To promote Sales
* Liaise with both new and existing customers.
* Research and development tasks
* Following up new business opportunities and setting up meetings
* Planning and preparing presentations
* Communicating new product developments to prospective clients
* Overseeing the development of marketing literature
* Writing reports
* Providing management with feedback
* Complete order forms for accounts to invoice from.
As mentioned above, candidates need to have managerial experience from within a plant hire / construction equipment / yellow goods industry.
