Kier Strategic Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Principal Construction Manager to join our Strategic Area 3 contract.


Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities.

Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage the liaison between the designer and contractors during the early involvement in
    the design process and subsequent construction stage.
  • To encourage the introduction of innovation during both the production of the optimum
    solution and during the construction stage.
  • Manage the production of cost estimates for designed Works.
  • Negotiate Target Prices with contractors for each scheme and arrange for the production
    and regular updating of cost forecast.
  • Manage the Health and Safety aspects of the works including the responsibilities of
    Principal Contractor when required and manage the production of the Health and Safety
  • Plan (Construction Phase) and Health and Safety File.
  • Monitor site progress and arrange for the provision of an action plan to mitigate the
    situation where progress is falling behind.
  • What are we looking for:
  • Proven Leader with Good Management Skills
  • Proven Experience in Motorway & APTR scheme
  • Excellent Business acumen
  • Experience of HE procedures and Construction Management Framework
  • Experience of wide aspects of design and construction of highway works in the maintenance environment
  • Desirable 5 years' Experience in Motorway & APTR Maintenance
