Position: Estates Surveyor
Location: Lincoln

Kier is looking to recruit a Estates Surveyor to join our Lincoln Estates team who will be keen to take on a varied and challenging caseload as an integral member of a busy team that provides professional consultancy services to a range of public sector clients.

Operating within a team structure and working collaboratively with other team members, the successful candidate will maintain an individual caseload and should be able to work on his/her own initiative to deliver a high quality service within agreed timescales and budgets, build and maintain excellent client relationships and also help generate new business for the team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, client-focused estates services in addition to providing a wide-ranging professional advice on a varied portfolio of:
  • commercial
  • residential and specialised premises,
  • schools, and
  • other public buildings and land
  • You will be responsible for providing advice and management of negotiations on site acquisitions, disposals and highway schemes, including Compulsory Purchase and Compensation and Undertaking landlord and tenant negotiations, including rent reviews, new leases and renewals

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertaking property valuations and development appraisals
  • Carrying out day-to-day estate management duties on both vacant and occupied properties
  • Carrying out asset valuations for financial reporting
  • Work in a timely, cost-effective and pro-active manner, maintaining a personal caseload and work collaboratively with other team members where required
  • Report progress to our clients regularly to ensure that client satisfaction, KPIs and expectations are met
  • Advise clients on compliance with statutory and industry best practices, actively seeking innovation and service improvements.
  • Support management in the preparation of planning and reporting documentation through the provision of timely, accurate information
  • Contribute to business development, including information sharing, use and understanding of company systems
  • If required, take management responsibility for other staff on a project-by-project basis and assist with the quality assurance of work delivered by others in the project team
  • Have a commitment to Continuing Professional Development including continually developing your professional skills and staying up to date with challenges facing our clients
  • Operate in compliance with company procedures, best practices and legislation current at the time
  • Key Skills and Qualifications
    • Degree in general practice surveying
    • Obtained or be working towards MRICS APC qualification
    • Practical experience and knowledge of property management and property reviews to identify areas for improvement in the use and occupation of both operational and non-operational property
    • Effective Writing and Meeting Skills
    • Mechanical and Electrical Awareness
    • Influencing, Negotiation and Time Management Skills
    • Management of Subcontractors
    • Facilitation Skills
    • Be a good communicator, both verbally and in writing
