Protocol are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join The Estates Department of one of the largest further and higher education colleges in the UK. To start as soon as possible, the successful candidate will aid the department in the creation, maintenance and management of all College premises, services and transport systems at each college.

Role responsibilities
* Manage low value capital projects, major maintenance schemes and development appraisals, establishing project plans from inception to completion and taking into account all relevant statutory and Local Authority requirements.
* Establish targets with respect to project delivery; monitor and report on progress against these targets
* Appointment of Design Teams and the delivery of several major capital projects in both pre-construction and construction phases at any one time
* Manage the preparation of briefs with client departments, managing the preparation of drawings and outline specifications, informed by the completion of land and building surveys and the preparation of reports, where appropriate, in order to brief external consultants or to gain appreciation of the user departmental requirements and the proposals.
* Take into consideration any environmental issues with regard to the projects managed, identify and implement methodologies and procedures to manage and minimise the risks identified.
* Prepare accurate project estimates and budget costs for schemes including faculty relocation, building work, change of accommodation use, service installations, furniture and fittings, fees, VAT etc.

The person & qualifications
* Degree or Professional Qualification in a construction related discipline, or demonstrable evidence of competency at an equivalent level.
* Applications should have a full grounding in project management of projects in excess of £1 million together with relevant experience, post qualification, in:
? The management and planning of projects
? Management of staff
? Control and co-ordination of contractors
? Management of budgets in a similar capacity
* Thorough knowledge of CDM, Health and Safety and other regulatory legislation.
