Protocol are working with a leading College based in the South Croydon area who are currently recruiting for a Careers and Employability Advisor.
The college are highly experienced in successfully delivering vocational qualifications and offer an exciting variety of courses at a wide range of levels. In addition to this, they work alongside a wide range of employers and are therefore able to offer Apprenticeships in many areas.
Last Academic year the College achieved 100% pass rate on their Level 3 vocational courses with 70% achieving the highest grades. Progression rates are on a high, with 94% of students having successfully progressed to University, Employment or an Apprenticeship.
The college has high quality, industry standard facilities inclusive of state-of-the-art digital media Suites, photography studios, spa & nursery facilities and on-site hair and beauty salons. The Learning Resource Centre, complete with specialist facilities, complements their Student Services Centre which provides a one stop service to enrich the student experience. Other facilities include a competition standard sports hall and fitness gym and first class Science Labs. The ten-acre site also includes a well- maintained football pitch.
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the implementation of the college's strategic aims by providing a range of professional guidance and career planning services to client groups. Enhance student employability; and to work in close collaboration with college staff and employers to facilitate learner progression.
Role responsibilities
Provide outstanding careers guidance, counselling and information to learners in line with the College's formal entitlement for students. This includes KS4. Post 16, traineeships and Apprenticeships.
Make a key professional contribution to the planning and delivery of our service to our client groups
Organisation of the college's careers resource area in working in partnership with the LRC, tutorial provision and Work Skills Academy.
To coordinate and resource HE IAG. Ensuring systems and procedures for UCAS, student finance and support are created, maintained and up to date.
Create and maintain effective referral to other departments and agencies within and out with the institution as appropriate to the clients need
Visit employers and other relevant institutions to obtain first-hand information about recruitment and training and disseminate this information to colleagues and learners usiang it to inform effective delivery of our service.
Research into and provide up to date reports that promotes local and national career opportunities and local market information and keep learners and tutors informed of new developments and trends.
To be responsible for the collection and reporting of data in respect of student progression and destinations.
Maintain quality monitoring systems and produce timely reports on student use and participation with Careers and Employability IAG.
Lead on a range of strategic projects that enable the service to deliver its objectives
Organise and arrange partnerships events with schools, employers and HE institutions, e.g. careers fair, HE fairs and other appropriate events.
Provide a one to one service to support learners' career progression.
To participate in the new intake interviewing, enrolment and student induction.
Create and maintain a jobs board by building partnership with Job Centre Plus and employers.
To work in partnership with the Learner Experience and Achievement Manager to create tutorial learning materials for all curriculum levels.
Provide workshop sessions, which may include CV writing, applications, preparing for interviews applying for Apprenticeship or work experience or choosing a career or HE Path.
To assist with the process of application to higher and further education, Apprenticeships and employment.
The person & qualifications
Diploma in Careers Guidance or relevant specialist careers qualification at Level 6 (Desirable)
Proven experience of delivering careers information, advice & guidance in a 14-19 environment
Up to date and authoritative knowledge of careers guidance work and developments in education / FE / HE employment and careers matters
Maths & English GCSE / Level 2 equivalent
Experience and knowledge of offering and delivering careers IAG to KS4 up to level 4 learners
Demonstrable experience of quality assurance processes in IAG
Equality & Diversity Level 2 (or willing to obtain)
