URGENT | Timber Frame Design Manager | Cornwall | salary to attract | Bespoke and large-scale developments | Great career development potential | Technical and Commercial content
- Do you want to work for a company who provide eco-friendly construction solutions?
- Are you living in the beautiful County of Cornwall, or looking for a reason to move here?
- Would you like to use your timber frame design skills while taking responsibility for driving the business forward?
We are working with a Timber Frame Manufacturer who supply high quality, high value solutions for both the self-build market and commercial market, now seeking an experienced Timber Frame Design Manager with either the experience or potential to take on a management role.
Their small team design complete timber frame packages including walls, roof (they have their own specialist Truss Designers) and timber and providing an excellent service to their clients who require a high degree of support.
As Design Manager you are responsible for the whole of the design process, liaising with clients in a customer-facing role, leading a small but dynamic team who take pride in their excellent products. Although hands-on design isn't a day-to-day part of your role, you may choose to take on the design of some projects as opposed to delegating them.
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
- Previous experience in timber structure design and the construction industry
- Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD, and if you have any experience in specialist timber frame / timber engineering design software, this would be advantageous - particularly MiTek Woodengine
- If you have good working knowledge of current Building Regulations and Standards this would be very useful
- Good communication skills and the ability to liaise directly with customers, attending site meetings and producing estimates
- Commercial awareness, able to take responsibility and drive business forward
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and PC literate
- As you would expect with a high-quality product, excellent attention to detail is very important
- Practically minded and a team player, able to delegate to ensure efficient working, and to lead and motivate your team
- A willingness (ideally a real desire) to move to Cornwall if you are not already living here - 4.30 finish means you can get to the beach every day in the summer!
The team is small and very keen on social and charity events, involving all members of the team. You will be moving into a brand new office space, so this will give you the chance to organise things as you feel is best suited to the way you like to work.
