We are seeking experienced Payroll professionals at standard and senior level to assist in the efficient running of the organisation's monthly payrolls circa 3,000 employees with varying sets of terms and conditions

Role responsibilities
(General Group Payroll Officer)

* Administer and run all payrolls across the Group in accordance with operating procedures and deadlines.
* Process starters and leavers, ensuring that details are accurately entered into the payroll system.
* Process pay/expense claims and statutory/ voluntary deductions in accordance with the authorisation procedures.
* Complete detailed checks to ensure the accuracy of the payroll.
* Answer queries and resolve problems and issues promptly, delivering excellent customer service standards.
* Support with pension administration and reporting
* To lead on all aspects of Payroll and pensions
* To be responsible for ensuring that all input is completed accurately and to deadlines
* To deputise for the Pay and Reward Manager

(Senior Group Payroll Officer)
* To lead on payroll projects to improve processes
* Training customers and developing guidance for payroll processes
* Complete detailed checks to ensure the accuracy of the payroll.
* To oversee pension reporting, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
* To provide support with internal and external audits
* Respond to queries and resolve problems promptly delivering excellent customer service standards
* Oversee all payrolls across the Group in accordance with operating procedures and deadlines
* Responsible for all statutory returns and reporting
* Ensure and maintain strict confidentiality over employee data and information, ensuring full compliance with Data Protection Act provision

The person & qualifications
General Group Payroll Officer

Experience of payroll administration
Minimum 5 GCSEs including English and Maths grade C or above
Experience working within a busy administrative office
Experience working in a service environment and a firm understanding of the principles of delivering excellent service standards
Knowledge of payroll gross to net calculations and HMRC procedures for
PAYE
Fully competent in use of Office, including Word Excel
Experience using HR MIS systems
Knowledge of iTrent HRIS system (Desirable)
Experience of public sector pension administration (Desirable)
Payroll qualification or willingness to work towards (Desirable)
Senior Group Payroll Officer

Experience working in a service environment and a firm understanding of the principles of delivering excellent service standards
Payroll qualification or willingness to work towards
Experience of working on projects to improve processes
Knowledge of defined benefit pension scheme
Knowledge of payroll gross to net calculations and HMRC procedures for PAYE
Fully competent in use of Office, including Word Excel
Experience using HR MIS systems
Knowledge of iTrent HRIS system (Desirable)
