Support and Logistics Manager

Location: Exeter or Bodmin covering the SWW Operational Region

Business Area: Kier Utilities and Rail - South West Water

Permanent, Full time 45 hours a week

Kier has a long-standing relationship with South West Water spanning over 25 years. We're delighted that we've recently been reappointed to the Network Services Alliance (NSA) Framework, a new network repairs and maintenance and developer services contract, that starts in April 2020 for up to eight years.

Kier and SWW, as an Alliance, have high ambitions for our new service; to deliver an industry leading Customer Experience to the 1.8 million customers that South West Water serve.

Recognised as the most improved organisation in the utility sector by the Institute of Customer Service in January 2017, SWW have made strides towards this goal.

We are looking to recruit a Support & Logistics Manager for the Network Service Alliance. This is a new and exciting opportunity that will require you to assist in the establishment, development and growth of the site support function by enabling the team to successfully meet the challenges that lie ahead. You will report to the General Manager and are responsible for leading a team of frontline managers and supervisors to carry out all site support activities on the Alliance workstreams such as backfilling, reinstatement, barriers, vacuum excavators and stores.

This position will give you the opportunity to design, build and implement an efficient and robust site support hub function acting as a shared service across the Network Alliance.

You will also be able to lead and inspire a team of people influencing to deliver a consistent and quality service.

We need you to be able to manage internal and external stakeholders, including supply chain and direct staff, this will consist of sub contract labour and management.

Whilst this position sees you out in operations, you'll need to be able to flex your approach and think strategically, aid in the ideation and implementation of reinstatement strategies so your day to day will be varied, keeping things exciting and challenging!

Whilst delivering the role, we will require you to be comfortable in front of the client, council and highway authority, as you'll be representing the business, we will give you the tools to be confident and the autonomy to shape this new function.

To be successful in this role there are some key skill we will require, a full UK driving licence, have experience operating a similar lever, knowledge of either - Transport Legislation, logistics and if you have knowledge of NRWSA then this would be a real advantage!
