Breedon is a leading construction materials group in the UK and Ireland. We operate two cement plants, around 80 quarries, 40 asphalt plants, 170 ready-mixed concrete and mortar plants, nine concrete and clay products plants, four contract surfacing businesses, six import/export terminals and two slate production facilities.

Due to our continued expansion, Breedon Southern Ltd are currently seeking a Geologist to join the Land and Mineral Resources team, based at our head office in Breedon on the Hill, East Midlands. Reporting to the Geology Manager, you will be responsible for providing geological support and advice to our aggregates, cement and building products divisions throughout England and Republic of Ireland.

As a Geologist, you will help to develop the company's mineral replenishment strategy from desk-based strategic searches through to the design, costing and management of site investigation projects and mineral resource assessments. Ensuring compliance with the Quarries Regulations 1999 and Environmental Permitting Regulations pertaining to water and extractive/inert waste will form a key part of your role as will the preparation of earthworks designs and quarry development plans that drive safe and efficient mineral extraction. Where workloads dictate, this will be achieved through the management of external consultants and contractors engaged by BSL to produce surveys, studies and reports as necessary. You will possess an Honours degree in Geology or a Geology-related subject, be working towards Chartered Geologist status with at least 3 years' experience in the extractive industries and be computer literate, ideally with experience of using GIS and LSS/other 3d mining software.
