Our international client are recruiting for a Purchasing & Materials Manager. (Engineering biased)

This is an exciting and challenging role for the right candidate who will have commercial experience working in a similar position with excellent communication, negotiation and procurement skills. They will cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines and have good commercial awareness with the ability to make important decisions. They will be responsible for buying the best quality equipment and goods at the most competitive prices whilst building and retaining good relationships with new and existing suppliers. Required to attend meetings, they will develop a purchasing strategy and produce reports. They will also be responsible to train and supervise one or two other members of staff.

Pruchasing & Materials Manager Main roles & responsibilities
1) Purchasing all equipment for contract deliveries to customers, on time whilst achieving expected cost, quality and ensuring equipment certification is correct as necessary. Certification is particularly important for materials for use in pressure systems and equipment that is CE marked to the pressure equipment directive.
2) Maintaining stock levels of components, spare parts and materials. Maintaining traceability and documentation for stock items requiring certification.
3) Developing & maintaining good relationships with key suppliers whilst negotiating best possible prices.
4) Managing the Purchasing Assistant and Storesperson in order to best achieve the above requirements.
5) Negotiating and maintaining contracts for compay utilities and other services
6) Preparing reports for Group purchasing projects and monitoring supplier performance.

Purchasing & Materials Manager: Qualifications preferred. A procurement or technical qualification at Degree or HNC level or a Diploma at an equivalent level.

Purchasing & Materials Manager - Experience
* Purchasing and logistics experience.
* Previous experience of managing and controlling inventory and ideally stores management.
* Good MS Excel skills capable of interrogating MRP data sets.
* Experience of managing people.

Candidates with the above qualification and experience along with a knowledge of French or Italian are encouraged to apply, however these language skills are not essential.
